So That’s Why The Slopes Are Registered

Yesterday, I was talking about my fascination for Hong Kong’s registered slopes. After seriously looking into it, I found out that there is actually a sensible reason for such oddity.

Hong Kong’s terrain is naturally hilly to mountainous with steep slopes and these slopes present a threat for landslides especially during rainfalls.  In the past (around World War II), this phenomenon has actually caused deaths. With this, the Geotechnical Engineering Office of Hong Kong started to stabilise the slopes.  More information about this can be found at http://hkss.cedd.gov.hk/.
